Tools to Assist Individuals with Diabetes

Employers have the opportunity to help their employees with diabetes better manage their disease by creating a diabetes-friendly work environment, considering health insurance benefits, and providing employees with tools to make better choices. This section offers employers the tools to accomplish these important tasks.

Focus Areas

  • Assessment Tools for Employers: Employers can use the tools in this section to determine if their work environment and health benefits are diabetes-friendly. It also includes a worksheet that employers can give to employees to help them make the best choice if multiple health benefit plans are available.
  • Personal Care Tools for Employees: This section offers people with diabetes the tools to track and manage their disease. There are many easy to understand pamphlets and guidelines that outline the recommended tests and care for diabetes as well as tools to keep track diabetes test results and progress with self-management efforts. It also includes specific resources for people newly diagnosed people with diabetes, older individuals, children and their families, and women with gestational diabetes.
